While Wednesday night presented perhaps the most great triumphs of the period for the Blue Devils, their season got closed down in grievous design Thursday morning.

Under eight hours before Duke was set to kick things off against Florida State in the ACC competition quarterfinals, the program declared that it would not contend in the remainder of the gathering competition because of an individual from the group’s Tier 1 staff testing positive for COVID-19.

Athletic chief Kevin White added that this will authoritatively stamp the finish of the group’s 2020-21 mission.

Clearly, the news was staggering for the Blue Devils, and numerous players communicated their failure through online media.

It’s obscure whether Duke would have made a sufficient push the remainder of the week in Greensboro, N.C., to get a NCAA competition offered. The Blue Devils were important for ESPN investigator Joe Lunardi’s “Next Four Out” heading into Thursday’s record of gathering competition activity, yet a success over the Seminoles may have been sufficient to get an everywhere offered for Duke.
